1. A Marketing System vs. A Counseling System
Typical outplacement companies counsel and teach the candidates on adjusting to the emotions of transition and on addressing concerns and desires candidates have towards the marketplace.  Most of the process teaches the candidate how to job search.

After counseling, however, we create a marketing strategy and targeted materials and then provide research to quickly move the employee into the marketplace.  We assist the candidate to specifically identify his or her career role and then target selected industries.

 

2. Marketing Materials
Typical outplacement companies provide a "traditional" resume, either chronological or functional in format.

 

Marketing resumes with advertising mind sets and position statements will be developed to work with the marketing action plan we design, and written with the targeted employers in mind.

 

3. Research
Typical outplacement companies instruct the candidate on how to research and provide company names, location, size, etc.

 

We provide industry-specific research based on the focus of the candidate.   In addition, our Internet-based research on our secured computer system offers the latest information on targeted career opportunities.

 

4. Marketing Plan
Typical outplacement companies teach the candidate to network, answer ads, target recruiters, and contact companies.  Job seekers are usually on their own at this point.

 

We develop a marketing action plan and an implementation strategy for our client's employees.  While clients are in the process, R.L. Stevens continues to partner with our candidates to help them reach a measurable, quality-driven, high level of job search activity.  For example, our technology permits daily identification and download of the most recent opportunities across the country and overseas.
