Laura had just declared Chapter 7 and was desperate to get back to work.  Prior to unemployment, she had dabbled in the consulting arena but felt that there was no job security.  Laura came to R. L. Stevens hoping to get much needed advice and a focus on “where to begin.”

Because of the client’s need to get back into the market place as soon as possible, Laura’s consultant decided to put her into a fast track program.  Together, they completed the resume in just one and a half weeks and then turned their efforts toward the unpublished market.  Laura began to contact past business clients and conduct informational interviewing.  Her efforts paid off … one of her old clients suggested she contact the state and Laura followed up on the lead.

Within three weeks, Laura had interviewed with the state and was given an offer.  Wanting to ensure she was getting a fair settlement, Laura contacted her consultant and discussed salary negotiation.  Through discussion of win-win techniques, Laura was able to get $10,000 more than the original offer.
