Apple CEO Tim Cook says the company will release information on the diversity of its 80,000-member workforce. Cook’s comments come as Apple takes some heat for its lack of diversity. It has just a handful of women in the senior leadership of the company including board member Andrea Jung and new retail chief Angela Ahrendt. Apple has publicly committed to increasing the diversity of its work force. Cook and thousands of employees took part in the recent Pride Parade in San Francisco under Apple’s banner. The iconic company is facing pressure from Rev. Jesse Jackson, whose Rainbow PUSH Coalition has launched a high-profile campaign to push for more racial diversity in Silicon Valley. Jackson is calling on companies to take concrete steps to diversify their work forces.
